A Note to My Elite Traders, and the Four Stages of Competence

A Note to My Elite Traders.
I am honored to be part of your trading journey. Your effort, discipline, and commitment inspire me every day. Seeing you grow in skill and confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of this work, and your success brings me real fulfillment.
Trading As A Professional Path
Trading is not easy. The markets test us mentally, emotionally, and financially. Some days the process feels smooth and clear. Other days it feels heavy and uncertain. Growth happens when you keep your structure and continue to apply discipline even when it is not comfortable.
I see the charts you study and the journals you complete. I see the way you hold yourself accountable when it would be easier to look away. These steps create the foundation of a professional trader and they compound over time.
The Four Stages of Competence in Trading
Stage One: Unconscious Incompetence
At this stage you do not yet know how much you do not know. Confidence can be high while skill is low. Entries are random, risk is ignored, and losses feel unfair. The goal here is awareness. Accept that trading is a serious profession and that you need structure and education to move forward.
Stage Two: Conscious Incompetence
Now you understand that your current approach does not work. This stage can be frustrating because you can see your errors but you are not yet consistent in fixing them. This is where you begin to respect rules and seek a framework.
Stage Three: Conscious Competence
You can trade with skill but it still requires effort. You follow checklists, wait for your windows, and manage risk on every trade. Consistency improves, but you must remain vigilant so that discipline does not slip during hot streaks or drawdowns.
Stage Four: Unconscious Competence
This is the level of the professional. Execution is calm and precise. Risk management is instinctive. You do not chase. You wait for your setup and you act with clarity. You size responsibly and let the math do the work over many trades.
Trust And Mentorship
Thank you for the trust you place in me. My role is to teach and to guide you through the technical and psychological challenges of this profession. I am fully invested in your growth. When you succeed it motivates me to keep raising the bar for the entire group.
The Road Ahead
Every step forward matters. Each chart you review, each session you trade, and each journal you complete builds toward long term mastery. Stay disciplined. Keep your process simple. Respect risk on every position. Professionals are the ones who remain consistent and patient when others do not.
With respect and gratitude,
Christopher Hunt
